🐍 Will The Dodgers Get Snake Bitten?
NL West Predictions And Spring Training begins
As of today, 100% of pitchers and catchers have reported to camp, by the next time we talk on Monday, over 50% of MLB will have had their full squads report. Get your chores out of the way now, we’re closing in on the return of everyday Baseball.
This has been a fun series reviewing and predicting each division across the MLB, and I really appreciate the feedback and insight into your thoughts as well. Thank you for sharing, please keep it coming! Today we’ll close it out with the National League West, and while this will be a no-brainer of who finishes in 1st, at least two of these teams should make the postseason. Let’s slide into home to close this series out with the key additions, subtractions, and my projected division standings…
1. Los Angeles Dodgers 🥇
Additions: Shohei Ohtani, Tyler Glasnow, Teoscar Hernandez, Joe Kelly, Manuel Margot, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, James Paxton
Subtractions: Ryan Brasier, Clayton Kershaw, J.D. Martinez
Why? April through September will be their “Spring Training”. Can they stay healthy and show up in October are their only two questions.
2. Arizona Diamondbacks 🥈
Additions: Joc Pederson, Eduardo Rodriguez, Eugenio Suárez
Subtractions: Tommy Pham, Evan Longoria, Kyle Lewis
Why: This is a good team that made the World Series and got even better in the offseason, but they’ll be stuck battling for a top Wild Card spot this season. As they proved last year, if they can get in, they can be a dangerous team that patched some holes.
3. San Francisco Giants 🥉
Additions: Jordan Hicks, Tom Murphy, Jung Hoo Lee, Robbie Ray, Jorge Soler
Subtractions: Brandon Crawford, Joc Pederson Alex Wood, Mitch Haniger, Anthony DeSclafani, Ross Stripling, Sean Manea, John Brebbia, Jakob Junis, Scott Alexander
Why: While this team will have a high floor, the ceiling won’t be high enough for them to make a seismic impact without another move. Adding Soler was a great value, but he’d be the first Giant since 2004 to hit over 30 home runs in that park.
4. San Diego Padres
Additions: Wandy Peralta, Yuki Matsui, Michael King, Kyle Higashioka, Enyel De Los Santos, Drew Thorpe
Subtractions: Juan Soto, Matt Carpenter, Trent Grisham, Scott Barlow, Seth Lugo, Josh Hader, Garrett Cooper, Blake Snell, Gary Sanchez, Ji Man Choi, Luis García, Austin Nola, Rich Hill, Tim Hill
Why: Losing Juan Soto leaves a void too large to fill, especially considering this team could not make the postseason last season with him.
5. Colorado Rockies
Additions: Jacob Stallings, Dakota Hudson, Cal Quantrill
Subtractions: Connor Seabold, Brent Suter
Why: This will be a sub .500 team but have a few interesting pieces, namely on the left side of the defense in Nolan Jones, Ezequiel Tovar, and Ryan McMahon.

💎 Diamond Digest
Scott Alexander signs with Oakland for 1yr, $2.25M
White Sox sign former All-Star Mike Moustakas to a Minor League deal that would pay $2M if he makes the Majors.
Fanatics still has Value Boxes available which include randomly inserted signed MLB Memorabilia redemptions from stars like Julio Rodriguez, Aaron Judge, Adley Rutschman, Shohei Ohtani, and more. These are a steal at $30 and I love the new design of this year’s cards.

⚾️ Today’s Tater
I’ve really enjoyed this video series on the top 100 MLB players, though I do disagree with a lot of their rankings. Maybe that’s a newsletter for another day, but for now, let’s enjoy some taters served by stars like Pete Alonso and Adolis Garcia.
Email or DM me any Home Run videos you want to see featured here and I’ll give you a shout-out if/when I post it!
