Winter Meeting Set to Sizzle Without Free Agent Flash
The Winter Meetings next week might not be dazzling with a star-studded free agent list, but hold onto your hats because we're still in for a treat. The real buzz is circling the trade market and humming with some big-time names. Eyes are especially on Shohei Ohtani – if he signs, expect the MLB universe to explode. Everyone's wondering where this two-way sensation will land.
Then there's the trade rumor mill, grinding away with some of the game's top talent potentially on the move. We're talking about Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, Tyler Glasnow, Gleyber Torres, Dylan Cease, Corbin Burnes, and even the whispers of Mike Trout. Imagine the seismic shifts in team dynamics if any of these deals go down!
Teams want to shake things up and make a splash, so expect some serious chess moves. It's like a high-stakes game of baseball poker, and the Winter Meetings are where the cards get dealt. So, even without a marquee free agent list, next week's meetings are shaping up to be a hotbed of activity, setting the stage for a thrilling offseason.

Where there is smoke, there is fire, and Juan Soto’s name has been covered in Yankees trade rumor smoke. If I’m the Yankees, anybody not named Aaron Judge or Gerrit Cole is available as long as they can also work out a long-term deal for Soto. Without that long-term commitment, it would be tough to justify giving up the farm for a 1-year rental. Let’s head into the weekend with all 35 of Juan Soto’s 2023 taters.
