American League
East
  • Yankees (5-1): Anthony Volpe’s offseason work on his swing path seems to be paying dividends, as he had the first four-hit game of his career on Monday.

  • Red Sox (4-2): Ceddanne Rafaela ran down a ball in the outfield in the bottom of the 11th to help seal the series win over Oakland. Nick Pivetta will be on the mound to go for the series sweep today. 🏃

  • Orioles (3-2): Top prospect Jackson Holliday has his second leadoff homer in Triple-A. After a Jordan Westburg walk-off on Monday and a loss yesterday, the O’s look to bring home the series win today with Corbin Burnes on the mound against Cole Ragans. If there’s one pitching matchup I’m watching today, it’s this one.

  • Rays (3-3): Zach Eflin pitched 6.1 innings, giving up just one run on five hits and striking out five, as the Rays tied the series against the Rangers.

  • Blue Jays (2-2): Davis Schneider blasted a go-ahead two-run home run off Josh Hader in the top of the ninth on Tuesday to even up the series against the Astros.

Central
  • Tigers (4-0): After scoring no runs in the first nine innings on Monday, Detroit puts together a five-run tenth inning to propel themselves to a 4-0 start to the season for the first time since 2015

  • Guardians (4-2): Shane Bieber pitched six shutout innings and had nine strikeouts to even the series against Seattle. That’s 12 innings pitched, 20 strikeouts, and no runs allowed so far this season for Bieber. 🤩

  • Twins (2-2): Louie Varland gave up all three runs yesterday in a loss to the Brew Crew. Chris Paddack will make his 2024 debut today as the Twins try to split the two-game series.

  • Royals (2-3): Alec Marsh got his first career win as the starter on Tuesday. He pitched seven innings, allowing just two hits and one run while also sitting five down on strikes.

  • White Sox (1-4): Garrett Crochet has been dealing. He has 16 strikeouts in his first two starts, the most by a White Sox pitcher in their first two career starts.

West
  • Angels (3-2): Nolan Schanuel continues a historic start to his career as he’s reached base in 34 consecutive games, the third most to start a career since 1900. 📈

  • Rangers (3-2): Josh Jung was hit by a pitch Monday night, fracturing his right wrist. The organization’s fifth overall prospect, Justin Foscue, gets called up to help fill the void.

  • Mariners (3-3): The offense was quiet on Tuesday night, and a few errors on defense helped the Guardians even up the series. George Kirby will be on the mound today in hopes of winning the series.

  • Astros (1-5): Ronel Blanco led a strong bounce-back for the Astros on Monday after a tough opening series. In just his eighth career start, he threw the first no-hitter of the year.

  • Athletics (1-5): Esteury Ruiz was optioned to Triple-A to reduce his strikeouts despite batting .429 through his first three games. Getting on base was a problem for him last year, but when he did, he certainly made the best of it, swiping 67 bags to set the AL rookie record.

National League
East
  • Braves (3-2): At 40 years young, Charlie Morton threw 5.2 IP on Monday for a combined shutout of the White Sox. Spencer Strider will take the mound today in hopes of winning the series after falling 3-2 to the White Sox yesterday.

  • Phillies (2-3): Bryce Harper snapped his three-game hitless streak in epic fashion with three taters, one of which was a grand slam to even up the series against the Reds. 💥

  • Nationals (1-3): McKenzie Gore went 101 pitches through 5.1 IP in the home opener, giving up three runs on five hits but adding six strikeouts to his stat sheet as the Nats lost to the Pirates.

  • Mets (0-4): Sean Manaea pitched the longest no-hitter in a Mets debut in franchise history, but the offense couldn’t support him. They failed to score a run and lost in the tenth inning. Tuesday’s game was rained out and rescheduled for Thursday, which was a scheduled off day.

  • Marlins (0-6): Batting just .237 with runners in scoring position, the Marlins are just one of two teams still seeking their first win of 2024.

Central
  • Pirates (5-0): For just the sixth time in their 143-year history, the Pirates open the season 5-0. Mitch Keller looks to make it 6-0 tonight against the Nats.

  • Brewers (4-0): Jackson Chourio hit an RBI single in his first at-bat in the home opener, and Chrisitan Yelich went yard for the second time this year.

  • Cubs (3-2): Shota Imanaga had a stellar debut on Monday. He went six innings and tied the MLB debut record for most strikeouts with no walks or runs allowed. Christopher Morel helped out with a single and some heads-up base running, leading to a three-run Little League home run.💨

  • Reds (3-2): Spencer Steer delivers a top-of-the-tenth grand slam Monday night to propel this team to victory. Frankie Montas will have to be on his A-game today as the Reds look to win the series against Philadelphia’s Zack Wheeler.

  • Cardinals (3-3): Willson Contreras powers the Cards with back to back nights with two-run home runs against the Padres to put this team in position to sweep the series.

West
  • Dodgers (6-2): Mookie Betts continued his red hot start to the season, smacking his fifth homer in just eight games. He and the bullpen led the Dodgers to a win on Tuesday night that sealed the series victory over the Giants.

  • Diamondbacks (4-2): Zac Gallen allowed three hits and struck out six through six innings to help even up the series against the Yanks.

  • Padres (3-5): Despite their record, the offense is managing 6.13 runs per game while batting .373 with runners in scoring position. They’ve fallen to the Cardinals in back-to-back games.

  • Giants (2-4): For just the second time in as many years, Logan Webb fails to go five innings, throwing 96 pitches through 3.2 IP against the Dodgers on Tuesday night. After being designated for assignment, former number two overall pick Joey Bart was traded to Pittsburgh for right-handed pitcher Austin Strickland.

  • Rockies (1-5): Kyle Freeland’s 17 earned runs allowed are tied for the fourth-most through a pitcher’s first two starts of a season since 1913. Things are not going great here. 🫣

🥔 Today’s Tater

Trout goes 473ft on Monday for his second homer of the night, the furthest hit tater of the year so far.
