American League
East
Yankees (37-19, @ LAA): Anthony Volpe extended his hitting streak to 20 games, and Juan Soto hit his 15th tater of the year, but Anthony Rizzo committed his fourth error in 55 games this season, tying him for the most among first basemen and led to the Angels comeback win.
Orioles (34-19, v. BOS): On Monday, they won their season-high fifth straight game as the offense erupted for 11 runs, but that streak was snapped on Tuesday night as they lost by five runs despite Grayson Rodriguez recording a career-high 10 Ks.
Red Sox (28-27, @ BAL): After allowing a season-high 11 runs in Monday’s loss, they returned on Tuesday to put eight runs on the board while Brayan Bello had his third straight outing of allowing three or more runs but got the win nonetheless.
Rays (26-29, v. OAK): They were shut out for the third time this season, each instance occurring this month, and have now lost seven of their last eight games. 🫣
Blue Jays (25-29, @ CWS): Two strong starting pitching performances over the last two days led to back-to-back wins for Toronto, who will look to finish the sweep this evening. Chirs Bassitt threw five scoreless innings while striking out seven on Monday, and Kevin Gausman went six innings of one-run ball on Tuesday.
Central
Guardians (37-18, @ COL): After they didn’t hit any home runs in a two-run loss on Monday in Colorado, the offense responded with four total homers in Tuesday’s win, two of which were from Josh Naylor, and one from Jose Ramirez, his 16th on the year.
Royals (34-22, @ MIN): Since their season-high eight-game win streak ended on Sunday, Kansas City has now lost three straight games for the third time this season. Their starting pitching staff has typically been a strong suit, with the third-lowest ERA in MLB. However, this wasn't the case over the last two games as Cole Ragans allowed three earned runs and Alec Marsh allowed five.
Twins (30-24, v. KC): Minnesota, who hasn’t trailed yet through two games of this series, won both games by a combined three runs. Carlos Correa and Christian Vázquez helped seal Tuesday’s win by gunning down a potential stolen base runner in the top of the ninth. They’ve won six of their last seven since ending their season-long losing streak. 📈
Tigers (26-27, v. PIT): Postponed to a doubleheader today due to rain. Luckily, they’ll face Pittsburgh, who has a losing record, because this team is 7-12 against teams over .500.
White Sox (15-41, v. TOR): Back-to-back losses against Toronto have extended their losing streak to seven, which ties their season-high. They scored three combined runs in the two games and are ranked last in MLB in AVG, OBP, OPS, R, & HR.
West
Mariners (30-26, v. HOU): In both games, a three-run inning at the beginning on Monday and at the end on Tuesday made the difference, leading to wins. Julio Rodríguez achieved his third consecutive multi-hit night on Tuesday, with both hits resulting in RBIs. His second hit drove in the game-sealing runs.
Rangers (26-29, v. AZ): Stop me if you’ve heard this before… Corey Seager hit a game-changing home run against the Arizona Diamondbacks. This time, it was a game-winning three-run homer to secure Texas’ first back-to-back win since early May. 💥
Astros (24-31, @ SEA): This team scored just two runs on Monday and Tuesday, which didn’t set them up for success, as they dropped both games. Ryan Pressly allowed three runs in the eighth on Tuesday to give Seattle the lead. Alex Bregman hit his fifth homer of the year to drive in the only runs on Tuesday for them.
Athletics (23-33, @ TB): In his third game of the season after returning from injury, Miguel Andujar hit a three-run homer, which was the only run of the night scored as they threw a four-pitcher shutout.
Angels (21-33, v. NYY): A two-out, two-run double from Taylor Ward in the eighth inning was the difference in Tuesday night’s win as the bullpen went four scoreless innings after Griffin Canning allowed three earned runs through five innings.
🧠 Trivia Question:Who has the most quality starts (6+ innings pitched with three earned runs or fewer allowed) since 2020? |
National League
East
Phillies (38-18, @ SF): The team was shut out for the second time yesterday in a game where Zack Wheeler threw six scoreless innings. As a result, the team dropped its third straight game, marking its longest losing streak of the year. Cristopher Sánchez will take the mound this afternoon as they aim to avoid being swept for the first time this season.
Braves (31-21, v. WSH): This four-game series is tied after two games as Charlie Morton allowed eight earned runs on Monday, and the offense was unable to overcome that deficit. Max Fried brought them nearly to the finish line again on Tuesday, throwing eight innings to lead them to an MLB-leading ninth shutout win.
Nationals (24-29, @ ATL): They used up all of their runs on Monday as they put up eight in a win, but came back to get shutout as they put just three runners into scoring position in the loss. This team is quietly tied for the most steals in MLB, tied with the Reds. 🏃♂️💨
Mets (22-32, v. LAD): After a rainout on Monday, they lost both games of a doubleheader despite seven scoreless innings from Tylor Megill and a two-run homer from Francisco Lindor in the second game, which were the team only two runs of the day.
Marlins (19-37, @ SD): Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit a solo homer on Monday to score this team’s only run of the last two days as they dropped back-to-back games in San Diego. They’ll look to avoid a sweep today and snap a six-game streak of scoring three or fewer runs.
Central
Brewers (31-23, v. CHC): Milwaukee welcomed back Craig Counsell for the first time since he left in the offseason. The team honored him with a tribute video, but the fans greeted him with loud boos. The Brewers won Monday's game with a three-run homer by Willy Adames, but they lost on Tuesday after allowing five runs in the tenth inning, despite Freddy Peralta's impressive 11 strikeouts in 5.2 innings. With the series tied at one game each, they will play two more games to finish it. 🗣️
Cubs (28-27, @ MIL): Justin Steele threw seven scoreless innings on Monday, but Mark Leiter Jr. allowed two earned runs while recording just one out to lead to the loss. Ben Brown followed Steele’s lead on Tuesday as he also threw seven scoreless, but again, the Cubs allowed a late run, which sent the game to extras, where they secured the win in the tenth.
Cardinals (26-27, @ CIN): After having their longest win streak of the year broken by Cincinnati, they returned the favor on Tuesday by snapping their season-long streak. Masyn Winn, who has a 17-game hit streak, drove in two runs in Tuesday’s win and, since May 5th, is batting .344/.368/.547. This team has lost just three games since May 12th.
Pirates (25-29, @ DET): Postponed to a doubleheader today due to rain. Ke’Bryan Hayes was activated off the IL yesterday, while Joey Bart and Martín Pérez were placed on the 7-day and 15-day IL, respectively.
Reds (24-31, v. STL): They won their fourth straight game on Monday, which was their longest winning streak of the season. However, Andrew Abbot allowed six earned runs, making it a difficult hill to climb, and they lost on Tuesday. This loss brought their May record to 8-17.
West
Dodgers (35-22, @ NYM): A rainout on Monday gave this team a chance to recollect themselves to snap their five-game losing streak as they won both games of the doubleheader on Tuesday by three runs, though the second game was won in extra innings. Freddie Freeman went 5-for-8 with 1 HR & 3 RBIs yesterday. 💪
Giants🔼(29-27, v. PHI): Blake Snell had another difficult outing on Monday. He threw 90 pitches in four innings while allowing three earned runs, which lowered his ERA from 11.40 to 10.42. The team won in a tenth-inning walkoff, which was a combined shutout on Tuesday to move to two games above .500 for the first time this year.
Padres🔽(30-28, v. MIA): Yesterday, Jurickson Profar drove in three runs as his team won their third straight game. Jeremiah Estrada struck out three more batters, setting the highest consecutive strikeout total since at least 1961 at 13 straight and counting. Yu Darvish will be looking to finish the sweep today.
Diamondbacks (25-29, @ TEX): They got out to a two-to-nothing lead early but blew their 16th lead of the year, tied for third-most in MLB, on a Corey Seager three-run homer.
Rockies (19-35, v. CLE): Charlie Blackmon led the charge on Monday as they tallied three hits, a homer, and three RBIs in the series-opening win. Unfortunately, they couldn’t contain Cleveland’s offense on Tuesday, allowing 13 runs in the loss.
