🕳️ The Baseball Card Balancing Act
A Hobby For Kids, Adults, or Both?
Let's talk about the tightrope walk that is collecting baseball cards these days. Last year, I jumped back into this world, and it's like riding a roller coaster that's been supercharged. The flood of new releases can be overwhelming – we're talking a new set every couple of weeks. It's like trying to catch every pop fly in a home run derby!
Box prices are soaring, but that's the classic game of supply and demand for you. We all crave those limited print runs – they make our finds more valuable, right? But then, we're also wincing when we see the price tags on those boxes. It's a delicate balance. Do we want more affordable cards with higher print runs or exclusive, pricier cards that could be worth a fortune? Is this a hobby for kids or for collectors and speculators? The frequent releases at varying price points help give availability for all markets.
And speaking of fortunes, let's have a moment of silence for those who banked on Wander Franco cards. With Franco becoming more elusive than a perfect game, some of those investments might not be the home runs collectors hoped for. Pour one out for the people on eBay who were buying Franco cards for thousands of dollars just two weeks ago.
But hey, that's the thrill of the chase in baseball card collecting. You win some, you lose some, and sometimes, you end up with a felon in your collection.
What Do You Think? Are you in for the rare, costly treasures, or are you lobbying for a return to the days of more cards for your buck? Explain why after voting. |
